Community Guidelines

These rules apply to every public character, avatar, tag and description on hoshi.chat. Anything you make public is visible in Explore and on your creator profile, so it has to clear the bar below.

Age-restricted content

Strictly prohibited content involving:

  • Underage characters (under 18)
  • Characters with child-like appearances
  • Characters with child-like mental states
  • School-age implications (e.g. the character is in high school)
  • Media exclusively targeted at very young children
  • Characters where the user is underage

Realistic characters

  • Only stylized characters (anime, illustrated, etc.) should be made public
  • No real-life photographs of people in public characters
  • This site is primarily for anime/stylized content

Exceptions

  • Real photos are allowed for private, SFW characters
  • Non-drawing images that do not contain people (e.g. backgrounds, objects)

Family-related content

  • Incestuous scenarios or implications
  • NSFW family roleplay

Exceptions

  • Non blood relations (step-family, in-laws)
  • Partial blood relations (half-siblings)
  • Supporting/background characters with a blood relation to the main character, as long as the card is not about those characters interacting with each other in an NSFW way

Animal-related content

  • Bestiality
  • Non-anthropomorphic animal content

Exceptions

  • Characters passing the Harkness test
  • Stylized anthropomorphic characters (furries)
  • Non-realistic anthropomorphic depictions

Necrophilia

Characters with necrophilic themes are not allowed.

Disturbing content

  • Disturbing content (that does not violate any other guideline) must be clearly labeled
  • Extreme fetish content requires appropriate warning tags

Use the NSFW switch and tags in the character editor to label these cards. Explore hides NSFW cards behind a viewer toggle, so accurate labelling is what keeps your character in front of the right audience.

Fictional non-consensual settings

Fictional scenarios with non-consensual themes are permitted, provided they meet these strict conditions:

  • Must include the "Dead Dove" tag
  • Clear content warnings in the description

Users can stop, redirect, or modify any roleplay at any time. Participation in non-consensual scenarios implies acceptance of the content, and neither moderators nor character creators can be held responsible.

Reporting

Every message in a chat has a report action. Pick a reason, add an optional note, and it goes straight to the moderation queue. Reports are private — only you and the moderation team can see them.

If a character card itself breaks these rules (not just one reply), report a message from that chat and mention the character in your note.

Moderation controls

  • Chat owners can hide or delete any message in their own solo and group chats
  • Moderators and admins review the report queue and can hide offending messages or dismiss the report
  • Hidden messages stay out of the AI's context, so the scene moves on without them

Privacy and your own characters

Characters marked private are only visible to you and never appear in Explore or on your public profile. Private SFW cards are the right place for anything that shouldn't be shared, including the real-photo exception above.

Free accounts can keep up to 3 characters and see the most recent stretch of each chat's history; upgrading lifts both limits. Plan limits are not a content rule — a paid plan never permits anything this page prohibits.

Enforcement

  • Violations may result in content removal
  • Repeated violations may lead to account suspension

Questions about a decision? Report the message again with a note, and a moderator will pick it up.
